The highlight of the Fall session 2021 in the Legislature for me was the day I introduced a Private Members Bill – An Act Respecting Down Syndrome, otherwise known as ‘Harvey’s Law’. The credit for this bill goes to a local family who explained to me the hurdles they went through to get informed, balanced and inclusive information on Down syndrome after receiving the news during their prenatal journey that their child would be born with Down syndrome. Thank you to everyone who reached out to support this bill which I will continue to advocate for in the next sitting of the Legislature as we work together towards a more inclusive Nova Scotia.
